Products (AKA: LPS Enterprises, Inc.) is a female owned full
service commercial maintenance company that has been in
business for 20 years. LPS, run by Linda Veronneau and her
husband Robert, donate to several charities to give back to the
community, such as the Jim Haskins Memorial Ski/Board
Challenge run by Bob’s Sea and Ski (Fairhaven) to benefit
Special Olympics MA (SOMA). LPS donates to such charities
because they feel as though success is no good unless it can
be shared.
LPS has been
involved with SOMA for quite a few years now, ever since
Linda’s son Christopher became an athlete, participating in
numerous sailing and skiing events. Christopher became
involved with Special Olympics when he was in middle school,
participating with Joel Sullivan from the Westport School
system, as well as their favorite coach, George Chin. One
of Linda’s favorite memories of Special Olympics was when
Christopher was awarded a brand new pair of racing skis for
raising the most donation money through this Jim Haskins
event. Christopher had worked extremely hard to raise these
funds, and he wears those skis proudly every time he hits
the slopes.
The most
rewarding aspect of her company being involved with Special
Olympics is just “seeing the athletes smile, because that is
all it they need to make it worth it,” says Veronneau. “It is
an amazing program that has helped him to learn success, and
gain self esteem, learn good sportsmanship, as well as a
love of being active. Without Special Olympics, our son
would not be the man he is today” says Linda about
Christopher.
A first time
Gold Medal Sponsor of this event with a $2,500 donation, LPS
has gone above and beyond the sponsor level. Not only did
they bring many supporters to the event but they even
offered a Live Auction prize right in the middle of the
fantastic raffle that Bob’s Sea and Ski offer. They decided
to auction off an irrigation system worth $2,000 which
raised an addition $700 for SOMA. Without companies like
LPS who go above and beyond to donate money, SOMA would not
be able to hold events like the Jim Haskins Memorial
Ski/Board Challenge. Their sponsorship has opened up the
doors for many more athletes to succeed through SOMA sports
and activities. |
