More than 650 athletes compete in May Games in Holyoke!
Aquatics and Track & Field athletes flocked to Holyoke
High School to compete in the 2008 May Games, an assessment round that qualifies
them to advance to the 2008 Summer Games in Boston! Thanks to the effort of more
than 200 volunteers, the athletes were treated to a great competitive and social
event. A new addition this year was the Healthy Athletes Special Smiles program
presented by the Wal-Mart Foundation; this program provided dental screenings to
participating athletes as part of an initiative to help Special Olympics
athletes improve their health and fitness. Its ultimate aim is to improve each
athlete’s ability to train and compete in Special Olympics as well as succeed in
life. Check out the competition results here!
