Busy Fundraising Weekend – $250,000 raised!

Kicking off the holiday season, people all across Massachusetts showed their generosity, helping to raise $250,000 for Special Olympics Massachusetts at 7 events across the Commonwealth!

The first weekend in December was a successful fundraising weekend for Special Olympics Massachusetts.

On Saturday December 1, Pittsfield kicked off their 9th annual Cop on Top Fundraiser at the Pittsfield Walmart, raising $30,200 in just one day! They followed that up with another $15,000 on a chilly, wet Sunday for a grand total of $45,000. Chicopee also held a Cop on Top event on Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and successfully raised $8,500, exceeding their goal of $8,000.

Over on the eastern side of the state, the Boston Jolly Jaunt presented by the New Balance Foundation took place on Saturday with plenty of sunshine and great holiday costumes.

The fundraising continued on Sunday at the Hyannis Jolly Jaunt and the Peabody Holiday Torch Run where the rain didn’t stop a group of dedicated runners and fundraisers from coming out to support Special Olympics. The Peabody Holiday Torch Run raised $38,000. The Hyannis Jolly Jaunt raised over $20,000 and donations are being accepted until the end of the year, the total is expected to rise.

On the Cape, the Orleans Police Department hosted two Tip-A-Cop events, one at Land Ho! Restaurant and one at Hole-in-one Restaurant, raising around $3,000!

While the rainy, chilly weather on Sunday made the events a little more challenging, it was a successful weekend of fundraising events. Always great to have athletes, fundraisers, volunteers and law enforcement together for a common cause and having a fun time.
