State Soccer Cup
November 3, 2019
The 32nd annual State Soccer Cup will once again take place at the Governor’s Academy in Byfield, a preparatory school 30 miles north of Boston. Students at the school play a crucial role in making the event a success year after year.
Special Olympics Massachusetts is excited to continue to partner with the Governor’s Academy, a 2008 Special Olympics Massachusetts Hall of Fame inductee, and is a shining example of the partnership between schools and Special Olympics. For 30 years, the entire student body turns out to volunteer and cheer on the teams competing. The students are led by a select group of upperclassmen, who apprentice as juniors before leading the event their senior year.
Over the years, thousands of students have led the effort to provide the best possible venues, volunteers, and atmosphere, showcasing Special Olympics soccer at the highest level in Massachusetts. We thank all of the students, faculty and staff who have been so instrumental in continuing this valuable partnership.
