Coronavirus & Flu: .
Coronavirus is on everyone’s radar, and it is still flu season here in Massachusetts. Special Olympics MA has been in contact with the Massachusetts Department of Health seeking guidance on how to proceed with Winter Games and as an organization we are following their recommendations that it is OK to move forward with the event and the risk level for the virus is low in the state. With that said, SOMA has taken the following precautions and wants to remind everyone of the following:
- Special Olympics Massachusetts will have disinfect wipes, hand sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer at every venue
- It is good practice to avoid the spreading of germs by:
- Making sure everyone in your care is always washing their hands
- Bringing extra hand sanitizer
- Educating everyone to cough or sneeze into their elbow
- If anyone on your team is sick, please have them stay home during the tournament
- If you have traveled from a high risk areas, including Italy, Iran and China, we are asking you to follow the guidelines presented by the CDC of self-quarantine for 14 days and to practice social distancing
