Tip-A-Cop® is a fun event where officers act as celebrity wait staff working for “tips” that are donations. If you know a local restaurant that would host a few local officers, then you have already done most of the work. We can provide all the promotional materials you will need. It’s a great way to not only raise money for Special Olympics Massachusetts, but work with your community, highlighting your department’s community involvement. These events also typically get great press coverage.
Some restaurants also offer specials the week or month of the Tip-A-Cop® to raise even more money. Restaurants have donate a percent of a purchase if you mention Special Olympics, or donate proceeds from a certain product. Some locations even hold raffles!
If you’d like to start a Tip-A-Cop® in your own community please contact us at TorchRun@SpecialOlympicsMA.org or at 508-485-0986 ext. 256. Also, learn more in the Tip-A-Cop Handbook.
