Meet Xtra Mile Falmouth Road Race Runner, Katelin Cwieka!
This is not the first time Katelin Cwieka has run as a part of team Xtra Mile for Special Olympics Massachusetts. In fact, this will be her second time running the Falmouth Road Race for Special Olympics, and she recently ran in the Boston Run to Remember. Her motive of “Keep Positive!” and her love for Special Olympics and sports are what help keep her motivated to participate in so many races!
Running is not the only way that Katelin is involved with Special Olympics, she has been a volunteer for about 8 years, when a friend who worked with Special Olympics New Hampshire asked her to volunteer for an event.
Katelin is also involved with Special Olympics through her job at Avidia Bank, “It’s great to be at a workplace that encourages volunteering with their partners and getting involved,” she said. The company has been involved with Special Olympics for years!
So far, Katelin has been fundraising using social media and even held a fundraiser at Exhbit A Brewery in Framingham, where a lot of local businesses donated raffle items. “I had about 30 people attend and we raised over $700 that day!” Katelin has also been writing to friends and family and asking for their support. She has exceeded her fundraising goal, but wants to continue fundraising until the day of the race!
Thank you for all your hard work and commitment to Special Olympics Katelin, we look forward to seeing you at the Falmouth Road Race!
