New England Revolution Unified team beats Philadelphia 2-0

The New England Revolution Unified team got their first win Saturday night, August 11, against the Philadelphia Union Unified team, with a final score of 2-0. The goals were scored by Preston Hall, with an assist from James Keith, and Farley Asmath with an assist from Calen Frongillo.

The big day began with a trip to Apex Entertainment of New England with the team from Philadelphia. Then the team headed to Foxborough and spent time bowling and relaxing at Splitsville Luxary Lanes before the big match. They then went to watch the first team’s match from the suite, before preparing to take the field. The team didn’t let the wet weather bother them and came out on top.

David Campopiano, Director of Marketing for the New England Revolution, believes the partnership between Special Olympics Massachusetts and the Revs grows stronger each year.

“It’s an honor and a pleasure to work with Special Olympics Massachusetts,” Campopiano said. “The bond between Special Olympics Massachusetts and the Revolution continues to strengthen every season, even when we think it cannot become stronger! The first three years of the partnership were successful but it felt like this season reached new heights. For all that we do on the Revs side, we could not accomplish this growth without the support of the Special Olympics Massachusetts staff, the athletes and their families.”

Through events outside of the game such as the annual Bowl for a Goal fundraiser at Patriot Place, the athletes and Revs players have developed a strong bond.

“We’ve created a program that goes beyond a partnership; it feels like we have become one big family,” he said. “I think back to our first season of Unified programming when we knew there was a bond between Andrew and Jimmy, but not much on a relationship-level beyond that. Now I look at 2018 when we’ve created a bond with all of the athletes and our players, which is highlighted in the attached photo of Brad and Shawn.”
