USA Games Spotlight: Alyssa Neil
Holyoke Athlete to Compete at USA Games in Seattle
Alyssa Neil is an accomplished athlete who has traveled across the country and around the world showing people what she can accomplish through sports. Her next opportunity to compete on the national stage will be at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle, Washington. Alyssa has been selected to run as a member of Team Massachusetts only a year after she was in Austria speed skating for Special Olympics USA at the 2017 World Winter Games.
Alyssa competes year-round in track & field, soccer, bowling, speed skating, and bocce with the Greater Springfield local program. She has been involved with Special Olympics for 15 years and has been to four world or national games, Seattle will be her fifth!
Alyssa loves the opportunity to travel and compete with Special Olympics. When asked about her experiences she said, “I get to experience new cultures and meet different people from all over the world!”
In 2011, Alyssa ran track for Special Olympics USA at the World Games in Athens, Greece. She rejoined Special Olympics USA in 2013 in PyeongChang, South Korea as a speed skater. In 2014 as a member of Team Massachusetts, she ran track at USA Games in Princeton, NJ. Alyssa returned to the World Winter Games in 2017 winning Silver and Bronze Medals in speed skating.
