What we do
Special Olympics is changing the way people with Intellectual disabilities are seen in the world. Join us and help create a more inclusive community where you live.
Through the power of sport, athletes with intellectual disabilities show
- That they can compete in 23 olympic-type sports
- That they can train and improve their skills
- That they can develop teamwork and communications skills
These athletes show that they can transfer these skills to their lives off the playing field. Follow their lead and be a game changer. Play, coach, or volunteer with Special Olympics. What do Special Olympics athletes do? Through their Athlete Leadership, they change the way we all see the world. They do this by competing in sports, bringing schools together, taking responsibility for their health and wellness, and Special Olympics supports their efforts thought community events with our dedicated partners.
