Special Olympics in Schools:
Unified Sports & Inclusive Education
Special Olympics Massachusetts is excited to partner with schools in a number of ways. Our goal is to develop a continuum of service from first through twelfth grade. Whether hosting a School Day Games event, participating in MIAA supported Unified Sports® like track & field and basketball or organizing an R-Word awareness campaign, our education partners are vital in our efforts to engage youth around the idea of inclusion.
Students with intellectual disabilities are two to three times more likely to be bullied than peers without intellectual disabilities. Through our partnerships with schools, Special Olympics is helping to solve the problem of isolation and misunderstanding in the classroom by bring students together on the field of competition.
