Starting Monday, June 3rd through Friday, June 7th, Law Enforcement members representing departments and communities all over Massachusetts, will act as “Guardians of the Flame” and carry the Special Olympics Torch and “Flame of Hope” to the Opening Ceremonies of Special Olympics Massachusetts’ Summer Games in Boston in our annual Massachusetts LETR Statewide Final Leg.
The Massachusetts LETR Statewide Final Leg is not only an honor for the participating Law Enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes who will comprise the Statewide Final Leg Team, but a salute to all the Special Olympics Massachusetts’ athletes who will travel to Boston to compete in the Summer Games.
The Special Olympics Torch and “Flame of Hope” symbolizes the incredibly vital leadership in grassroots fundraising and community-building that LETR contributes to Special Olympics Massachusetts, helping to bring inclusion to every city, town, school district, and neighborhood in the Commonwealth.
The Final Leg Team consists of a group of Law Enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes who will spend the Summer Games Week together as a group. This includes staying in hotels and travelling across the state to different community celebrations as one, Unified team!
