The mission of Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, prepare for entry into school and community programs, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

We’re on the hunt for our next Digital Engagement Coordinator: Someone who thrives on leveraging social platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and X (plus any emerging platforms!) to activate our audiences and maximize the value of every interaction. You’ll use live events and digital storytelling to fuel growth, surprise and excite audiences, and deepen connections with our online and offline communities—including disability advocates, endurance athletes, law enforcement, pro sports fans, and anyone passionate about inclusion, athletics, and kindness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Put the digital and social media plan to work (TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube) to engage our audience and execute ongoing social media tactics.
- Track, measure, and analyze digital performance data across platforms to inform strategies and make data-driven decisions about what to optimize, add, or adjust
- Be an active community member representing SOMA – following, commenting on, responding to, other people’s companies’, and organizations’ posts.
- Grow digital engagement for organizational priority initiatives including, Polar Plunge, Xtra Mile endurance sports platform, Unified Champion Schools, Law Enforcement Torch Run
- Develop on-brand content that aligns with SOMA’s messaging and visual identity, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand experience across all platforms and campaigns.
- Support sponsorship deliverables by creating, publishing, and tracking branded content for corporate partners
- Support the creation of email marketing content through copywriting and audience segmentation
- Use the events hosted by SOMA and our partners to further connect with new and existing audiences.
- Support in the creation of marketing materials including event flyers, graphics, banners, and videos with a basic understanding of graphic design and brand guidelines via user-friendly software like Canva and CapCut (or the like)
- Be ready, willing, and able to take on other duties as assigned.
Skills Needed:
- Demonstrated proficiency in social media engagement across multiple platforms
- Strong understanding of brand storytelling and the ability to create content that enhances the overall brand experience.
- Experience with data tracking, analytics, and reporting to evaluate digital performance and inform content strategy.
- Excellent written communications skills. With a knack for storytelling.
- Understanding of communication strategies, marketing principles, and branding fundamentals, including content marketing and paid media (paid social ads)
- Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated capability to conduct oneself in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with people and/or with difficult situations.
- Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and other constituents.
- Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the following skills:
- Action oriented, Drive for Results, Dealing with Change & Uncertainty, Customer Focused, Managing vision and purpose.
Background Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- 1-3 years related experience preferred
Salary Range:
$40,000 - $42,500 (non-exempt, hourly)
