Schools and Community Engagement Manager
The Schools and Community Engagement Manager will be responsible for the implementation, growth and programmatic development of all schools and community programming in a specific geographic area. This will include pre-school, elementary, middle and high school, college building and managing Special Olympics partnerships. This position will also implement and maintain community-based programming by providing ongoing customer and logistical support. This position is a field position that will require traveling throughout specific geographic area.

The Schools and Community Engagement Manager will be responsible for the implementation, growth and programmatic development of all schools and community programming in a specific geographic area. This will include pre-school, elementary, middle and high school, college building and managing Special Olympics partnerships. This position will also implement and maintain community-based programming by providing ongoing customer and logistical support. This position is a field position that will require traveling throughout specific geographic area.
Key Responsibilities/Skills Needed:
- Manage all school-based Inclusive Schools programs in assigned counties to ensure annual quality growth of programming across the territory. Responsibilities include relationship building, growing the athlete base, training (teacher, student and volunteer), event planning, communications and budgeting.
- Be the primary customer service liaison for community-based programs, young athlete programs, sport skill development/recreation locations.
- Work closely with Special Education Parent Advisory Committees (SEPACs) to develop relationships and onboard families to Special Olympics Schools and Community programming.
- Develop, implement and maintain all programming within Inclusive Schools to ensure quality programming for the three components – Unified Sports, Youth Leadership and Whole School Engagement.
- Create district-wide leadership teams to promote sustainability of schools.
- Assist with school data gathering, reporting and end of year evaluation to support all grant reports and serve as liaison for Inclusive Schools surveys.
- Continually cultivate and steward relationships with community-based volunteers and help create and educate volunteer teams and develop to support community-based program.
- Work with local community programs to ensure support of fundraising initiatives such as Polar Plunge, Xtra Mile, calendar raffle and local fundraisers.
- Place athletes and volunteers in programs; work with athletes transitioning out of school programs to continue involvement.
- Administrative duties are part of responsibility.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Background Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the school system, Special Olympics or sports field.
- Proven ability to work with educators and/or volunteers.
- Proven ability to recruit, manage and motivate volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, public speaking and sales skills.
- Strong event planning and execution background.
- Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
- Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and other constituents.
- Self-starter who can work in an on-the-road environment.
- Proficiency in MS office Suite and Google docs. SalesForce experience a plus!
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Salary Range: $42,500 to $47,500
