April 6, 2025

On Wednesday, March 26th, Special Olympics Massachusetts athletes, Youth Activation Council (YAC) members, families, and staff gathered at the Massachusetts State House to personally thank legislators for their continued support. Together, the Special Olympics MA community reached over 100 state representatives and senators—expressing gratitude for their commitment to inclusion and encouraging them to continue prioritizing the mission moving forward.

The day began with inspiring remarks from Senator Jamie Eldridge, Representative Sean Garballey, Representative James O'Day, Retired Boston Police Department Commissioner William Gross, and Special Olympics Massachusetts athlete Melisa Reilly. Each speaker shared powerful messages about leadership, advocacy, and the importance of building a more inclusive future.

Following the program, the atmosphere was filled with pride and excitement as athletes took the spotlight, sharing personal stories, amplifying their voices, and advocating for a world where everyone is respected and celebrated. Their powerful words served as a reminder of the true impact of inclusion.

Special Olympics Massachusetts is deeply grateful for the warm welcome and the opportunity to demonstrate the strength and vibrancy of its community. Events like these help move the mission closer to a future where inclusion is not just a goal, but a reality. Appreciation is extended to everyone who helped make the day so meaningful.
