Erin Delahunty, a longtime Special Olympics MA athlete and wellness advocate, was named Tufts Health Plan's first Healthy Hero of 2026, honoring her leadership, lifelong commitment to health, and inclusive sport.

From international competition to USA Games prep, Unified teams traveling coast to coast, athlete voices being heard, and friendships formed on and off the field, 2025 highlighted how inclusion creates moments bigger than medals.

Some adults might consider their athletic careers over after their 20’s or 30’s, but Edward Therrien of Pittsfield is still competing as a Special Olympics Massachusetts athlete at the age of 80.
