Mary Carlene Mosca, one of the earliest Special Olympics athletes, inspired a movement for inclusion. Her legacy lives on as her family continues to honor her through the Polar Plunge.

From marathon expansion and unforgettable Boston moments, to honoring Healthy Heroes and Diamond-level LETR success, 2025 showcased the power of community and how coming together through inclusion creates lasting impact.

Meet the 2018 Xtra Mile Boston Marathon Team helping us to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Special Olympics Movement by running 26.2 miles for inclusion!


Hundreds of frozen toes will be jumping into the waves on the shoreline of Buzzards Bay – some in costume, some in bathing suits, some fully clothed – at the Tabor Academy Polar Plunge on Sunday, January 22 for the Special Olympics.


Grafton High School implemented all three components of the program – unified sports, youth leadership, and whole school engagement.
